“Dialogue Under The Eye” is a two-layer woodblock print I created for the 2019 Afterhours Poster Show, which is an annual juried show curated by AIGA Austin. Inspired by the show’s theme of “design for democracy” I carved this scene of two very different creatures having a discussion around a bonfire.

Civil dialogue between diverse groups is key to a successful democracy. The confines of culture and history often make this dialogue challenging, but diverse communities must continue to engage in order for democracy to persevere.
