ECOLOGY ACTION MURAL
This storage barn mural for Ecology Action of Texas is inspired by the Egrets and Gamagrass that populate the beautiful and surreal mix of wetlands, forest, and grasslands at Circle Acres Nature Preserve in South East Austin. Ecology Action has been managing the restoration of this former quarry/landfill/brownfield site for the last ~15 years. They have done a ton of strategic planting and landscaping, creating an ecosystem that can filter the toxins in the ground and reinforce the soil and topography of the area. With the help of many volunteers, they have also removed a huge amount of illegally dumped trash. The result is an exciting natural space with outdoor classrooms and hiking trails that is a valuable resource for educating Austinites about the importance of respecting and restoring the natural world!
Big thank you to Eric Paulus from Ecology Action for coordinating and planning this project with me!! Eric is doing a ton of work to bring Circle Acres to life. I encourage everyone to explore this space and keep your eyes out for classes, workshops, and camps at Circle Acres Nature Preserve in the future :)
