“Magic Powers Math Flowers” is the mural I created for Facebook’s artist in residence program (FB AIR). Facebook commissioned this mural for a reception area and elevator bay in a new office building in downtown Austin. The imagery is meant to function as a symbolic reminder of our dependence on natural resources to create and fuel the technology that we rely on every day. Just like these wizards using the inherent geometric power of the math flowers in their magical ritual - humans need the natural world to inspire and create our increasingly powerful technology.

Preserving and protecting our natural resources is an imperative aspect of fueling our technological future, and we cannot forget that interdependence. It is crucial that large and powerful companies like Facebook use their influence to defend nature. So I am extremely thankful that the FB AIR program gave me the resources and venue to create this piece and spread this message!!
